Single Track Academy

Singletrack Academy is an educational program of the Genesee Regional Off-Road Cyclists that teaches mountain biking skills to youth and adults interested in learning how to ride, as well as those that want to improve their skills and gain more confidence on the trails.

What is Taught?

This season SA will offer a youth program through Victor Parks & Rec., and an adult co-ed clinic at our Burning Bike Festival. GROC will also be sponsoring another program hosted by Crankskins / RV&E Race Team. These clinics and programs will be offered for beginner and intermediate riders. Skills taught will vary by program & clinic, but will consist of lessons appropriate for each skill level. GROC instructors have been certified by the Bike Instructors Certification Program and use a teaching curriculum based on this program. Please see the links below for specific information about each clinic and program.

What Level is Right For Me?

BeginnerIntermediate
Ideal for any child or adult that is new to the sport, or for those that have been riding a while, but have never received any formal instruction. Youth interested in attending this program should try riding off road on short, easy sections of trail before signing up. This will help gauge a students readiness for instruction.Suitable for experienced riders that can consistently apply mountain biking fundamentals and can ride many trails. Students should expect some skills to take significant practice to master.

Singletrack Academy

Victor Parks & Recreation Singletrack Trail Riders: Mondays in June – July
Singletrack Trail Riders is a mountain biking program for kids that are interested in off-road riding, but are new to the sport or those who have ridden off-road without any formal training. Participants in the Trail Riders program could use an introduction to, or refresher, on basic skills, ride time to ingrain those skills, as well as additional riding to develop & improve their fitness level. Kids can expect to spend approximately 30 minutes learning / reviewing and 60 minutes out on the trails riding and having fun!

Burning Bike Festival Clinics: August 10
GROC will be offering several clinics at the Burning Bike Festival this summer for beginner and intermediate riders. Clinics will be approximately 2 hours followed by a group ride.

Crankskillz MTB Program: Thursdays May 2 – 23
The Crankskins.com/RVE cycling team is offering a mountain bike skills clinic aimed at beginner and intermediate juniors and adults. Our team members believe that the acquisition of skills leads to a safer experience and increased enjoyment for riders. Building on the ongoing success of RVE’s existing race series, the clinic will run concurrently with the Farmall Mountain Bike Race Series, located outside Fairport, NY. This program will run on Thursdays throughout May 2019.
